Company History from 1981 to 1990: Setting Records

• 1982:
  Putzmeister acquires California-based Thomsen, Inc., a manufacturer of mortar machines and boom pumps. Success of concrete boom pumps, Thom-Katt® trailer pumps, mortar machines, Tommy Gun® plastering machines and other products in North America results in sales and distribution responsibilities for the German division's industrial pumps and tunneling machines.

  Delivery of the largest concrete pump in the world, almost 164 ft. (50 m) boom height with 196 yd³/hr (150 m³/hr) output capacity.

• 1983: Delivery of the “Shotcrete Buffalo”, the largest wet shotcrete pump in the world
  
  

• 1985: Putzmeister sets another concrete pumping world record: high rise of 1,417 feet (432 m) in the Spanish power station Estangente-sallente.

• 1986: Delivery of the largest concrete pump in the world with a 62 m boom.
