SANY eTrucks make history: First nomination of a non-European truck manufacturer for the ‘International Truck of the Year’ award at SOLUTRANS in Lyon

At this year's SOLUTRANS in Lyon, SANY sent a strong signal for the future of sustainable freight transport. SANY was the first non-European truck manufacturer ever to be nominated for the prestigious ‘International Truck of the Year’ award – a milestone for the industry and a significant moment in global electric mobility.

The jury praised SANY's current second generation (e435) battery-electric truck mixer, which impressed with its high energy efficiency, innovative battery technology, first-class safety features and everyday range. ‘The nomination marks a historic step for SANY and confirms our commitment to actively shaping the transformation to a climate-friendly transport industry,’ explained Kevin Eichele, Head of Product and Business Development.

The International Truck of the Year award is considered one of the highest honours in the commercial vehicle industry, and the nomination enables SANY eTrucks to significantly increase its visibility in the truck industry. With the DAF XD/XF, an electric semi-trailer truck was once again the winner this year, yet our nomination underscores SANY's growing international importance as an innovation leader in the eTruck segment.

According to the rules of International Truck of the Year (IToY), the award is presented annually to the vehicle launched in the last 12 months that contributes most to efficiency in road transport. The evaluation is based on a number of key criteria, including technological innovation, comfort, safety, driveability, energy efficiency, environmental performance and total cost of ownership (TCO).

In total, three of the five vehicles on this year's ITOY shortlist were battery-electric models with zero emissions in direct operation. This is a sign that the energy transition continues to be a priority for truck manufacturers.
